Tourist entertainment agents in Ria Formosa have a training action “waiting for you”

The action ends with a boat trip along the Ria Formosa

The Algarve Tourism Region (RTA) is inviting tourist entertainment agents operating in the area of the Ria Formosa Natural Park to participate in the training action «Ecotourism and the Ria Formosa Natural Park», on the 12th of May.

The action will not be charged for tourist entertainment agents, but places are limited and participation requires prior registration.

The program starts at the headquarters of the natural park, at Quinta de Marim, in Olhão, where participants will be able to explore the nature interpretation path of the Marim Environmental Education Center, whose support equipment has been renewed as a result of an investment by RTA , and visit the recently opened exhibition «Ria Formosa», also financed by the regional tourism entity, which has also published a new guide dedicated to the park.

This is followed by a workshop on the «Algarve Regional Ecotourism Programme», to be developed by RTA with a view to ensuring sustainability objectives, namely, the preservation of landscapes, the conservation of biodiversity and natural ecosystems, proximity to local populations and its culture and articulation with local producers and other sustainable activities.

The occasion will also serve to collect the contributions of the participants for this plan, which will promote and develop the ecotourism offer in the region.

There will also be time for a boat trip to the island of Culatra, passing through the nucleus of the Farole visit to the nucleus of Culatra. This is where participants will get to know the «SuStowns» project, which promotes sustainable and quality tourism, preserving local traditions and cultural heritage; and the initiative «Culatra 2030 – Sustainable Energy Community», which aims to create a pilot community in renewable energies, including a charging station for electric boats to transport passengers, among many other actions.

The training action ends with a boat trip along the Ria Formosa and the awareness of the participants to the importance of recognizing nature tourism activities and a code of conduct within the natural park area, in charge of the Regional Directorate for Nature Conservation and Algarve forests.

The initiative materializes RTA's commitment to nature tourism and stems from the Valuetur project, approved under the Interreg Cooperation Program, whose main objective is to enhance protected areas of natural, historical and cultural value, to generate sustainable economic activity. .
