26 entities have already signed the Memorandum of Understanding for the Algarve Tech Hub

The session was promoted by the University of Algarve, the association Algarve STP and Algarve Evolution

26 entities signed this Tuesday, 19 April, the Memorandum of Understanding for the Algarve Tech Hub, in a work session that took place at the Gambelas Campus of the University of Algarve. 

The session was promoted by the University of Algarve, the association Algarve STP and Algarve Evolution, bringing together the following entities: Association of Commerce and Services of the Algarve Region (ACRAL); Association of Hotels and Tourist Enterprises of the Algarve (AHETA); Association of Hotel and Similar Industries of the Algarve (AIHSA); Algarve Biomedical Center; Algarve Intermunicipal Community (AMAL); National Association of Young Entrepreneurs (ANJE); Regional Agency for Energy and Environment of the Algarve (AREAL); Algarve Tourism Association (ATA); Algarve Regional Development and Coordination Commission (CCDR Algarve); Confederation of Algarve Entrepreneurs (CEAL); Algarve University Hospital Center (CHUA); Regional Directorate of Education of the Algarve; Regional Directorate of Agriculture and Fisheries of the Algarve; Alte Vocational School; ETIC; Faro Avenue; Growin Portugal; Agency for Competitiveness and Innovation (IAPMEI); Institute of Employment and Vocational Training (IEFP); Instituto Superior Manuel Teixeira Gomes (ISMAT); ZERO Museum; Business Association of the Algarve Region (NERA); Algarve Tourism Region (RTA); SEA – Social Entrepreneurs Agency; Creative Territories and Open University – Silves.

This Memorandum is part of the Algarve Tech Hub Collaborative Strategy 2020-2030, an action plan that aims to be a transformation engine capable of positioning the Algarve at the forefront as a recognized and competitive digital region on a global scale.

According to the Memorandum, the signatories «agree to join efforts to promote the development of the technological sector in the Algarve, leveraging its strengths, overcoming its weaknesses, taking advantage of opportunities and circumventing threats, with the awareness that this will only be possible within the framework of a strong partnership, in which all interested agents work together for the development of the regional technological ecosystem», says the University of Algarve.

The 26 entities that signed the memorandum also undertake to «develop an articulated, collaborative and continuous work to promote the development of the sector, through the implementation of projects and initiatives that contribute to the achievement of the activities and objectives of the Algarve Tech Hub Collaborative Strategy 2020-2030».

The work session on the 19th of April was chaired by Paulo Águas, rector of the University of the Algarve, and featured interventions by Francisco Serra, chairman of the board of the Algarve Science and Technology Partnerships Association, Miguel Fernandes, chairman of the board of the Algarve Association Evolution, and representatives of the 26 entities present.
