Ukraine: SEF launches website for requests for one-year temporary protection

Starting tomorrow

Tomorrow, Monday, the 14th, the Aliens and Borders Service launches a new trilingual online service that "enables all Ukrainian citizens and their family members (household), as well as any foreign citizen residing in Ukraine, to do online an application for temporary protection of one year, extendable for two periods of six months'.

The platform “SEFforUkraine.sef.pt“, which will have Ukrainian, English and Portuguese versions, “will make it easier to obtain temporary protection, and can only be used by citizens over 18 years of age”, according to this security force.

Minors, due to their vulnerability, “need to confirm their affiliation or register requests for temporary protection at one of the 24 SEF service desks dedicated to this purpose, which are open from north to south of the country and also in the Autonomous Region of Madeira'.

Citizens with temporary protection “have access, during the process, to tax, Social Security and National Health Service numbers, so they can, from the outset, have access to the various services and the labor market”.

All useful information regarding this procedure and other aspects of reception and integration of displaced persons following the conflict in Ukraine can be found at Government platform dedicated to supporting Ukraine.
