Tennis: Hungarian Fabian Marozsan wins troubled final of Loulé Open

The final started at Clube de Ténis de Loulé, but, due to the rain, it had to be transferred to the Vale do Lobo Tennis Academy.

The Hungarian Fabian Marozsan became champion of the 12th Loulé Open this Sunday, defeating the Austrian Lucas Miedler in a final that was marked by difficult weather conditions.

Number 364 in the ATP ranking, Marozsan showed more agility and turned Miedler around (312th and third pre-designated) to win by the partials of 6-7(6), 6-1 and 6-3 after 1h56.

The final started at Clube de Ténis de Loulé, but, due to the rain, it had to be transferred to the Vale do Lobo Tennis Academy a few minutes after the start of the decisive match.

On the new stage, the two players quickly exchanged service breaks, but Marozsan soon showed better adaptability and took advantage of the new conditions to create difficulties for Miedler and took advantage of his drop in performance to seal the victory.

With a perfect week at the Loulé Tennis Club, Fabian Marozsan won his first title of the season, his fifth in his career and also the most important, for being the first in events worth 25 thousand dollars.

"I am very happy. I want to start by thanking the entire organization of the tournament, I know it wasn't an easy week because of the rain in the first few days. Regarding today's match, it wasn't easy either, because at first it was very windy and then it rained a lot, but I'm very happy that I was able to adapt to the conditions. I think I played better with each match I played and managed to be happy”, said the winner.

Lucas Miedler spoke of a «very difficult week».

“The rain of the first days didn't help and today the final was also played in very difficult conditions, but we can't change the weather. the change of court today it affected me a lot, because I cooled down and I couldn't get back into the game, but anyway he played very well and deserved the victory", he concluded.
