Seminar on Water Efficiency in the Algarve disseminates good practices in the urban sector

A seminar on “Water Efficiency in the Algarve – Urban Sector” will take place this Tuesday, March 22, at 10:00 am, in Auditorium 1.4 of the Penha Campus of the University of Algarve, in Faro. 

One of the main objectives of the initiative is the presentation of the results of the beneficiary entities of the Water Efficiency projects financed by the Economic and Social Stabilization Program (PEES) and the dissemination of good water efficiency practices implemented in water management entities in the Algarve region.

In this context, 58 projects were approved following the Collaboration Protocols signed between the Portuguese Environment Agency and the Municipalities of the Algarve, which make up a total investment value of 3,3 million euros, financed by PEES.

The collaboration protocols with the Municipalities, celebrated within the scope of the PEES, emerged from 7 priority water efficiency actions, which come from the Regional Plan, two of which are aimed at the Municipalities: Monitoring and active control of losses and adoption of smart urban irrigation systems and efficient.

The opening session of the event will be chaired by Pimenta Machado, vice-president of the APA.

The closing session will be attended, by video conference, by João Matos Fernandes, Minister of the Environment and Climate Action.

The seminar will also be broadcast via streaming on the Youtube channel of the Portuguese Environment Agency.
