Portimonense lost 1-2 to Benfica, in the 25th round of the I Football League, played this Saturday, March 5, in Portimão.

After a balanced first few minutes, the Algarve team took the lead on the scoreboard.

Carlinhos made a great pass to clear Welinton who, in a face to face with Vlachodimos, shot into the back of the net (32′).

After the goal, the game had to be interrupted due to the launch, by Benfica supporters, of dozens of torches onto the pitch.

Fábio Veríssimo even had to interrupt the match, which was only resumed minutes later.

It was already during the 15 minutes of added time, given due to this stop and also to the assistance, in the many initials, of a ball catcher who felt bad, that Benfica reached the draw.

At 45+7′, Grimaldo caught a ball at the edge of the area and shot hard for the goal. Portimonense's players still complained at the beginning of the bid, but nothing was signaled.

In the second half, Benfica consummated the comeback, with a goal from a… Algarve. After a shot by Rafa, Samuel saved to the side and Gonçalo Ramos, born in Olhão, just had to touch the ball (50′).

Portimonense brought in several players, such as Sapara, Fabrício and Luquinha, in search of a tie, but the chances of Welinton (57′) and Relvas (79′) were not materialized.

The Algarve continues the crisis of results (11 games without a win) but are in 9th position with 29 points conquered.
