Museum, Pedagogical Farm and Library of Portimão open their doors to parents and children during Easter holidays

Get to know the suggestions of municipal equipment in Portimão

The Easter holidays for children and young people in Portimão will be spent between the Portimão Museum, the Pedagogical Farm and the Municipal Library, from the 11th to the 15th of April.

These three municipal facilities in Portimão have prepared «a set of free proposals for parents and children to spend time differently», according to the Portimão City Council.

Between the 11th and 14th of April, the Portimão Museum invites families to creatively discover the cultural heritage of the municipality, through the activities of the Educational Workshop, «a program of free-time occupation with the aim of building memories between kids and adults. , promoting a taste for themes related to heritage, history and culture, in a local and regional perspective».

«Throughout this program, the Educational Workshop will stimulate curiosity and creativity, as well as socialization among children, also strengthening the bonds between the little ones and adults, through the sharing of experiences, under the motto of creating and feeling themes to work and learn together», summarized the municipality.

 

 

Among the initiatives to be proposed are “A Puppet on the Fingertips”, «an activity of plastic expression that seeks to awaken creativity, imagination and the ability to create and tell stories», as well as the action “Discovering Prehistory” , «in which parents and children become familiar with the daily life of prehistoric communities and with practices such as milling, weaving and making ornaments, which will complete this journey through time».

During the same period, «children will leave their mark on the factory with the activity “First impression”, which intends to be a simple and colorful approach to the old industrial printing and stamping systems, through different techniques, using stencil, fingerprint and the stamps'.

«There will also be no lack of animation, with “Ideas and Shapes in Motion”, where participants will learn the science of movement, through animation cinema, with experiments in illusion and animation machines», added the Chamber.

The Portimão Museum will be open to parents and children from the 11th to the 14th of April, between 9:30 am and 12:00 pm and between 13:00 pm and 15:00 pm.

 

 

As for the Pedagogical Farm of Portimão, it will resume the activity for families “Come give breakfast to the animals” on the mornings of 11, 12, 13 and 14 April, starting at 9:30 am, lasting one hour.

A technician from the farm's educational team will receive a group daily, limited to 12 participants or three households, for a visit "in which participants will be able to find out about the work carried out in the care and feeding of the animals".

Participation in the activity is free, but registration is mandatory until the day before it takes place, and registration must be made via email [email protected] or by phone 282 248 595.

The Manuel Teixeira Gomes Municipal Library will promote a new edition of the “Juntos de Férias” project, in which there will be several books selected for the Easter 2022 edition, now available to young readers.

This project is carried out in partnership with the National Network of Public Libraries, through the Directorate-General for Books, Archives and Libraries, and its main objective is to encourage a taste for books and reading among young people between 10 and 15 years old.

 

 

« Developed from app LeR+ Challenges, the project provides games on a set of books recommended by the National Reading Plan 2027 for young people, enabling them to win prizes».

The Portimonense library also joined the company Teckies in organizing a programming contest on the Robogarden platform, between the 11th and 15th of April.

«Teckies' mission is to train in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, in a fun and very easy to understand way, addressing this challenge to children and young people from 8 to 15 years old with a taste for programming, who qualify for a special prize», according to the Portimão Chamber.
