What is it like to be a woman? The question is the motto for a project by the young artist Glantosz, which can be seen until this Sunday, March 20, at Galeria Arco, of Associação ArQuente, in Faro.

“WOMAN” BY GLANTOSZ is an art installation consisting of an exhibition of four large-format photographs, accompanied by audio interviews and video-audio content.

The first day of the initiative, last Friday, was also marked by the launch of the musical theme “Mulher”, composed by the author.

To create this project, whose idea, and first version, was born in 2020, the young artist from Faro interviewed several women victims of violence.

In this exhibition, which is a kind of remake of the original project, we can hear the testimonies of a victim of sexual violence and a victim of domestic violence. On the other hand, the photographs, even though they do not reveal the identity of the participants, say a lot about the theme.

«This project, based on real stories, serves to show the reality, raw and harsh, of many women. It is a cry of revolt from a male artist, who is aware of the freedom he has and which allows him to exhibit work like this. The musical theme I composed is an expression of what I was taught about what it means to be a woman in Portugal and is based on a story of domestic violence that is close to me», mentions the author.

Anyone who wants to, can go and see this project at ArQuente from 17:30 to 21:00. There will also be a performance by Filipa Barata.

Admission is free.

Glantosz is the artistic name of João Melo, a 17-year-old young man from Faro, who completed, this year, the Technical Course in Photography, at Escola Secundária João de Deus, in Faro.
