The Portuguese Navy, through the Lisbon Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC Lisboa), coordinated a rescue action for a 78-year-old man who had symptoms of pneumonia. The action started yesterday at the end of the day and ended this morning, March 3rd.

The passenger of English nationality, who was aboard the passenger ship “IONA”, sailing about 18 nautical miles (33 kilometers) south of Cabo de São Vicente, was referred, after contacting the Urgent Patient Orientation Center do Mar (CODU MAR), by the ship on which it was heading to the port of Lisbon, from where it was safely transported, on Thursday morning, to a hospital in the Portuguese capital.
