Loulé sends truck with 18 tons of goods to help Ukrainian refugees

In the next few days, a bus will arrive in Loulé with 50 war refugees who will settle in the municipality.

A truck, loaded with 18 tons of essential products, left this Thursday, March 10, from Loulé, towards Poland where it will support the millions of refugees fleeing Ukraine.

The community of Loulé came together in support of a solidary cause and the public entities - City Council and parish councils of the municipality -, associations, schools, churches, companies and civil society «gathered together to collect the goods that will satisfy some of the most pressing needs of this population that is on the run to the West», says the Câmara de Loulé.

The municipality made available the large vehicle that will now cover nearly 4 kilometers and, predictably, will be on Polish soil next Tuesday.

The material will then be delivered to the Polish association Fundacja Caietanus, a non-governmental non-profit organization based in Poland, which will distribute the material to the Ukrainian population displaced in the neighboring country.

Food and basic necessities, baby food, medicines and first-aid products, clothing, footwear and outerwear, hygiene products and childcare material are part of this shipment that leaves to help what is already considered the biggest humanitarian crisis in Europe since World War II.

Moreover, in the next few days, a bus will arrive in Loulé with 50 refugees from the war who will settle in the municipality and will have the necessary support from the social services of the Municipality in the integration process.
