Lagoa repudiates acts of vandalism at the Arade Congress Center

Câmara de Lagoa classifies these acts as “criminal” and “barbaric”

The Lagoa Chamber repudiated, this Monday, March 14, the acts of vandalism that have been practiced, in recent months, at the Arade Congress Center.

Last week, this infrastructure was vandalized again, leaving the windows broken.

In a statement, the Lagoa Chamber classifies these acts as “criminal, barbaric and premeditated by someone who practices them or orders someone to practice them, with the aim of harming Lagoa and the people of Lagoa”.

The municipality recalls that there is nothing it can do because «the Arade Congress Center is not owned by the Municipality and the rules of public procurement do not allow it to hire private security or install a surveillance system in a property that is not its own».

«The person responsible for maintaining the security of the Centro de Congressos do Arade is the insolvency manager, who has so far done nothing to keep that property safe from these acts, which the Municipality of Lagoa considers to be little innocent, given the moments when they have happened", says the Lagoa Chamber.

«Unfortunately, I already predicted that such acts could happen again, from the moment it was made public, that the Municipality of Lagoa would already have an agreement to acquire the property. But, unfortunately, I couldn't avoid them. Now I wait for the authorities to do their job», says Luís Encarnação, mayor of Lagoa.
