Lagoa reinforces network of defibrillators throughout the county

Sports, cultural and service areas, in the Municipality and in schools, received the new equipment

The territory of Lagoa has, since the beginning of this week, 10 more Automatic External Defibrillators (AED), accounting for a total of 14 assets, in the various facilities of the municipality.

According to the Lagoa Chamber, these new 10 DAEs were installed in sports, cultural and service facilities, in the Municipality and in schools.

Thus, the ESPAMOL Secondary School Pavilion, as well as its future sports area, the Jacinto Correia Elementary School Pavilion, the João Cónim Elementary School Pavilion (Estômbar), the Ferragudo Sports Center, the Manuel Ferraz Pavilion of the Parchal Elementary School , the Josino da Costa Stadium, as well as the Carlos do Carmo Auditorium, the Convento de S. José Cultural Center and the main building of the Lagoa City Council now have the Automatic External Defibrillation Program (AED) licensed by INEM.

There have already been several employees of the municipality, schools and clubs who have received training over the last few days, and who will still receive, on the 18th and 23rd of March, to be duly authorized and qualified to operate with the DAE, accounting for a total of 90 trained employees.

The Municipality of Lagoa already had AEDs installed in the Bela Vista Municipal Stadium, in the Municipal Swimming Pools, in the Jacinto Correia Municipal Pavilion and in the Estômbar Sports Park.

The next step will be to install this equipment in open-air public spaces, namely in areas of informal sports activity and in areas with large population centers.

“We know that an AED, installed in the right place and used at the right time, saves lives. I hope that no Lagoense will need to use an AED, but from now on our population will be safer and more protected”, considers Luís Encarnação, Mayor of Lagoa.
