After a two-year break, the Portimão School of Hospitality and Tourism reopens its doors to the public, on the 29th and 30th of March, as part of the Open Week promoted by all hotel schools in the country.

In Portimão, guests will have the opportunity to visit the institution and participate in the various activities that students and trainers have prepared for this purpose.

During the mornings, visitors will be welcomed by the principal in the school's auditorium and, soon after, will be accompanied by a student (host) who will take a guided tour of the theme rooms (Sustainability, Mathematics, Restaurant & Wines, Bar & Barista, Cooking & Pastry, Languages, Creative Workshop and Physical Education).

During the afternoon of the 29th, the lecture “Hospitality: how far do you want to go” will take place. Speakers Patrícia Correia, director general of Monte Santo Resort, Rui Cristino, director of Human Resources of the Martinhal Group, and Rui Nunes, director of Human Resources of the AP Hotels & Resorts Group, will address issues related to what is intended for the future in the field of hospitality and tourism and will share their experiences with the audience.

To end the Open Week, on Wednesday, the afternoon session will be energized by students from the Restaurant and Beverage Management and Kitchen Management and Production courses.

In this session, whose theme is “Innovation and entrepreneurship, passport to success”, students will present two projects they have been working on since the beginning of the school year: Re-Cork and Central Cook.

These two projects were carried out in partnership with Junior Achievement Portugal, with the aim of stimulating and developing skills in the area of entrepreneurship and innovation in students and were presented at the national competition, in Cascais, on March 18th.

For Pedro Moreira, director of EHT PORtimão, “it is a great satisfaction to open the doors of our school again. This approach to the community at this time is very important for us, as it allows us to present our training offer and share with our guests a little of the day-to-day life of our students”.

“Everything indicates that this will be our last Open Week at the current premises of EHT Portimão, as it is planned to move to the new school in the center of Portimão this year. This change will be an asset, as we will be equipped with better conditions that will guarantee an excellent training for our students”.

Open Week 2022 takes place simultaneously, from north to south of the country, in the 12 schools that are part of the Turismo de Portugal network. Every year this school network trains more than 3000 students, contributing to the high qualification of human resources in the tourism industry.

Applications for the 2022-2023 academic year open on the 1st of April and are carried out through the website of Escolas do Turismo de Portugal.
