Project aims to develop skills in the safe use of the Internet and knowledge necessary to deal with its risks

The Group of Schools of Albufeira/Escola EB 2,3 Dr Francisco Cabrita and the municipality of Albufeira welcomed partners from Italy, Barcelona (Spain), Romania and Turkey during the week of 14 to 18 February in the European Erasmus Project + KA 229 My TECH “I am connected but not addicted”.

The opening session of the activities was attended by the mayor José Carlos Rolo, the president of the Parish Council of Albufeira and Olhos de Água, Indaleta Cabrita, and the director of the Albufeira School Group, Domingos Mendes.

Aiming at developing skills in the safe use of the Internet and the development of the necessary knowledge to deal with its risks, the delegation participated in the Safe Internet Usage training, centered on the motto “Virtual identity and real identity”.

The sessions, provided by professors Marco Hipólito and Carlos Nunes, addressed topics such as cybersecurity (cybersecurity), ciberbullying in school (cyberbullying in school), cyber threats (cyber threats) and personal data – internet and computer security (personal data – internet safety, computer safety).

In addition to the training, the delegation was presented with a sand sculpture created by the artist Vítor Raposo.

With the awareness that, as Carlos Nunes recalled, “Even when the aggression is virtual, the damage is real”, that is, “although the aggression is virtual, the damage is real”, the participants made a very positive assessment of this experience in Albufeira, leaving the challenge to the school community and the community in general: «Act like in real life! On the Internet, we have to act like we act in real life!”
