Municipal Library of Faro marks World Poetry Day with many initiatives

Throughout the day, the Library distributes to its readers and visitors A poem in exchange for a smile

The Municipal Library of Faro António Ramos Rosa is promoting, during the month of March, a set of initiatives that will mark the World Poetry Day.

On the 15th, at 17:30 pm, another session of the Monthly Poetry Cycle will take place, When Poetry Happens, a partnership with Elos Clube de Faro, in which the work of Almada Negreiros will be highlighted.

On the 21st – World Poetry Day – at 14:30 pm, the activity “O Verde da Poesia” will take place, for children from 3 to 5 years old and 1st Cycle; at 18:00 pm “Once upon a time poetry”, which will have families as its target audience. These activities will take place in the Tale Hour room. At 18:00, the Library will present the session “Life is not enough, we need to add poetry to it!”, by Filomena Branco, in which we will hear poetry but also from its authors.

Throughout the day, the Library distributes to its readers and visitors A poem in exchange for a smile, with the collaboration of the Professional Course of Technician of Events Organization of Escola Secundária Pinheiro e Rosa.

Since the beginning of this month, the Bibliographic Exhibition that marks the 450th anniversary of the princeps d'Os Lusíadas which includes, in addition to some editions of the work and studies on the Poet, a copy of the 3rd edition of the Poema, dated 1609, which is part of the collection of the Fundo Antigo da BMF, as well as a bibliographic highlight with some books by the most outstanding authors of Portuguese poetry, from the Cancioneiros to the XNUMXth century.

Because «Reading is the best medicine», the Algarve Regional Health Administration in partnership with the Municipal Library of Faro continues to distribute “poetic recipes”, recommending users to take poems by different authors.

As part of this project, the Municipal Library of Faro will have a book to offer to all citizens who present the “poetic recipe”.
