Algarve Tech Hub Summit continues with a day dedicated to innovation in tourism

Until Sunday, the Algarve Tech Hub Summit program continues to run

“Innovative Tourism Activities and Projects”. This will be the motto for the second day of the international conference “Inova Algarve 2.0 – Innovation and Tourism”, this Wednesday, March 30th, which is part of the Algarve Tech Hub Summit.

The initiative will take place at NERA, in Loulé, and will also feature, from 12:00, with the intervention of José Manuel Simões, president of the Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning (IGOT), of the University of Lisbon, talks about “Territory and Tourism ”.

The afternoon will be dedicated to the final of the Inova Algarve 2.0 contest, co-financed by the CRESC ALGARVE2020 Operational Program, aimed at SMEs in the region. From among 63 eligible projects, 15 finalists, three from each of the five categories, will publicly defend their proposals.

In the Tourism and Agrifood category, products from the region are valued. Naturamêndoa values ​​almonds, Quinta do Freixo invests in agricultural activities, where all the raw materials that reach the table come from and Gribb invests in the organic production of mushrooms.

In the Tourism and Information and Communication Technologies and Cultural and Creative Industries category, the Faro Story Spot, which will introduce the History of Faro. And there are two proposals focused on technological efficiency: Contabiliza.pt proposes digital accounting and Logrise developed Amplifier, a digital marketing software.

«The proposals in Tourism and Health provide answers to the challenges of Covid-19, such as the Germfree UVC, which sanitizes the air using type C ultraviolet radiation. SAN-Saúde Integrativa intends to apply the principles of sustainability and connection to nature. Umami – Essential Oils & Fragances invests in the cultivation and transformation of products for the production of essential oils and fragrances», explains the organization.

Innovations in Tourism and Sea reflect environmental concerns. Future EcoSurf School wants to be the first 100% ecological surf school. Algarve Dolphin Lovers bets on a science club involving the local community. Mark 6 EquaDynamics has developed a marine propulsion system to reduce consumption and CO2 emissions.

In terms of Tourism and Renewable Energy, Âmago – Energia Inteligente is committed to transforming heat into domestic hot water. Energy Getaways combines tourism with the energy transition and promotes workshops on solar energy. Algarve Sun Boat Trips is the first to operate with a 100% ecological fleet, with electro-solar vessels.

Once the projects are presented, the jury will announce the winners, one per category who will receive a prize of 5 thousand euros, and the final winner receives an additional prize of 5 thousand euros.

Until Sunday, the Algarve Tech Hub Summit program continues to take place in Faro and brings together several personalities to discuss and think about the role of innovation and technology in the region, with a focus on tourism, sustainability, entrepreneurship, lifestyle and culture.
