The Executive Committee of the Operational Program CRESC Algarve 2020, following a proposal presented by the High Commissioner for Migration (ACM), the entity responsible for implementing public policies in the area of migration, approved the reinforcement of support for the functioning of regional reception structures and integration of refugees and migrants (CNAIM and CLAIM).

According to CCDR Algarve, “this decision stems from the urgent need to respond to the humanitarian crisis caused by the invasion of Ukraine, and the consequent influx to the Algarve of a growing number of Ukrainian refugees, seeking temporary protection”.

The support aims to improve the provision of temporary reception services, but also to promote a better social integration of these refugees.

The National Support Center for the Integration of Migrants (CNAIM) in Faro, and the Local Centers of the Algarve (CLAIM), are integrated responses to refugees and migrants, providing, among others, specialized reception services, legal and psychosocial support, support for professional insertion and voluntary return, provided through specialized assistance. in different supports and languages, through the action of qualified mediators.

With this support, the Algarve's efforts as «an inclusive, non-discriminatory and promoter of citizenship rights for all» continue.
