Albufeira offers a year of incubation to the winning startup of the “Tourism Explorers” program

The finalists will be evaluated by a jury of experts in the field of tourism and investors.

The Chamber of Albufeira will offer a year of free incubation to the winning startup of the “Tourism Explorers” program. The project will have to be developed in the county.

Albufeira is one of the municipalities present, through its startups, in the fifth edition of Tourism Explorers, a program organized by Fábrica de Startups and Turismo de Portugal.

The program aims to support startups in business development in the tourism sector based on «innovative and disruptive ideas».

The program has two phases: the ideation phase, which took place throughout February, with actions in five parts of the country (Caldas da Rainha, Coimbra, Faro, Lisbon and Porto) aimed at transforming ideas into business, starting from a specific challenge in the tourism sector.

It involved three days of bootcamps and the best teams were selected for the acceleration phase, where each project will have the opportunity to validate its business model in order to validate its value in the market.

This phase is taking place throughout this month of March. There will be six days of bootcamps with access to mentoring sessions with tourism experts and workshops, which will help define the best strategy for the business and adapt it to the tourism market. The best team from each city will go to the national final on March 30th.

The finalists will then be evaluated by a jury of tourism experts and investors, who will decide the winner of the Tourism Explorers 2022 edition.

Over the four editions, Tourism Explorers already had 2549 applications, 1820 participants and 449 startups. According to Fábrica de Startups, 60% of the startups that participated in Tourism Explorers are active, 23% had investment and 13% have internationalized their products/services.
