Albufeira accepts applications for summer holiday camps in April

Free time activities are aimed at kindergarten and 1st cycle children

There are still a few months to go, but registration for the “Summer Holidays” in Albufeira is already taking place between the 4th and 8th of April, through the website of this municipal project of free time for children from Kindergarten and 1st cycle of Basic Education, who study or reside in the municipality.

«This year, the municipality of Albufeira decided, for the first time, to organize a single program, to run from the 11th of July to the 26th of August, encompassing activities for children from Kindergarten and 1st cycle in the same places, naturally adapted , at different age levels», according to the Albufeira council.

In total, there will be four different shifts.

The summer camps will include sports and recreational-pedagogical activities, namely “water games, traditional games, cooking, cinema and plastic expression workshops, privileging, whenever possible, outdoor activities”.

The activities will take place in the following educational establishments: EB1/JI dos Olhos de Água; Caliços EB1/JI; EB1/JI of Vale Pedras; EB1/JI from Paderne; EB de Ferreiras and EB da Guia, between 8:30 am and 17:30 pm.

From the 11th to the 15th of July and from the 18th to the 29th of July, the shifts are intended for 1st Cycle children only. In the two following shifts, which take place from 1st to 12th of August and from 16th to 26th of August, children who attend Kindergarten and 1st cycle can participate.

«Education is one of the priority areas of the municipality, and there is always a huge concern to organize activities that, in addition to enriching children's free time, allow families, in the most intense work season in the Algarve, to have a place to leave their safe children, guided by professionals who provide them with very enriching experiences», according to José Carlos Rolo, mayor of Albufeira.
