Vilamoura hosts Congress of the Public Prosecutor's Union of Magistrates

The theme of the congress is “Autonomy/Responsibility, Quality and Citizenship”

The XII Congress of the Public Ministry Magistrates' Union (SMMP) will take place on the 25th and 26th of March, at the Tivoli Marina Vilamoura Algarve Resort. The closing session will be attended by Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and Lucília Gago, Attorney General of the Republic. 

This year, the theme of the congress is “Autonomy/Responsibility, Quality and Citizenship”.

«The XII Congress of the SMMP assumes itself as a civic forum for scientific, plural and pluralist discussion, focused on reflection on the Public Ministry (MP) and its magistrates on topics such as autonomy, identity and institutional, organizational and functional transparency, the plurality of its functions and competences, as well as the decisive role for the construction of a justice with more quality, more humane and closer to the citizens and the compatibility of professional life with personal life and the adequate and dignified conditions for the exercise of their duties. functions", says the organization.

António Lobo Xavier, Francisco Louçã, Luís Sousa da Fábrica, Paulo Pinto de Albuquerque, Paulo Dá Mesquita, Jorge dos Reis Bravo, Joana Marques Vidal and Maria José Morgado are some of the speakers at the initiative that includes, in its program, the signing of a protocol for the creation of the Union of Prosecutors for Portuguese-Speaking Countries.

The Public Ministry Magistrates' Union represents more than 90% of the MP's magistrates and Congress already has 400 registered prosecutors.
