It's called «Guadiana Lab» and it's a competition for business ideas related to the economy of the sea and river in the Algarve's Baixo Guadiana. The objective is to stimulate innovation, entrepreneurship and qualification of the business fabric. The awards go through shares of high coaching up to a €2.500 “check” to the big winner.
The application phase of the «Guadiana Lab» is open from this Tuesday, March 1st.
The contest's mission is to promote the presentation of projects, products and/or services that contribute to the introduction of innovation, knowledge and identification of opportunities around the sea/river economy sector in the Algarve's Baixo Guadiana territory, namely in the municipalities of Alcoutim, Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António.
The main goals are to encourage innovation and sustainability, enhance the integration of young people, researchers and entrepreneurs, and, finally, promote the development of creative industries processes in the territory.
Business ideas exclusively around the economy of the sea are accepted, namely those that fall within the primary sector, the manufacturing industry, advanced technology and tourism services, cultural and creative industries, health and well-being, the agri-food sector. and within the scope of renewable energies, as described in the contest Regulations, which we advise you to consult.
Open to individual or collective participation, the «Guadiana Lab» contest takes place in three phases, with the Proposal phase opening on March 01st with submission of business ideas until April 30th.
The three best candidates will have direct access to the second phase, with the right to high coaching business, namely Workshops and specialized Business Plans. In the third and final phase, honorable mentions will take place and the winning idea will be entitled to a cash prize of 2.500 euros. The «Guadiana Lab» is one of the core activities of Choose Guadiana, a project structured around four main lines of action. The Sea and the Guadiana River as a source for the training and qualification of SMEs, a source of economic activity and business investment, a source of innovation for new products and services and, finally, as a destination of choice in the nautical and sports sector.
Choose Guadiana is a project supported by the Municipalities of Alcoutim, Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António, submitted to Notice ALG-53-2018-22 and financed by the Operational Program CRESC Algarve 2020 (SIAC Qualification).
