Al-Mutamid Festival takes the melodies of Al-Aldaluz to Silves

Iman Kandoussi & Almawsily take the stage at Teatro Mascarenhas Gregório

The 22nd edition of the Al-Mutamid Music Festival will take the melodies of Al-Andaluz to the Teatro Mascarenhas Gregório, in Silves, on March 4, at 21:30 pm.

The project “Iman Kandoussi & Almawsily”, composed by Iman Kandoussi (voice and percussions), Amine Tailassane (voice and Arabic lute) and Chiqui Garcia (bouzouki and oriental percussions) will take the stage for «an unmissable show that aims to remember the poet king Al-Mutamid (1040 Beja – 1095 Agmât), the most liberal, magnanimous and powerful of all the taifas in Al-Andaluz», says the Silves Chamber.

Tickets cost 8 euros and are on sale at BOL platform or at FNAC, Worten, El Corte Inglés or CTT Correios.

The municipality remembers that the mandatory use of a mask inside the theater remains.

Iman Kandoussi is a singer from Tétouan (Morocco). At the age of 10 she began her musical studies of Arab-Andalusi singing at the Tétouan Music Conservatory. Later, she deepened her interpretation techniques with conductors Amin Akrami and Hicham Zouibairi, specializing in classical Arabic chants and the Nuba repertoire of Andalusi music.

In this project in trio format, Iman Kandoussi is accompanied by the duo Almanswsily formed by the Moroccan lutenist Amine Tailassane and the Andalusian percussionist Chiqui Garcia.

In addition to Arab-Andalusi music, this trio also interprets traditional themes from the Middle East and Eastern Mediterranean.
