Exemption from negative test to enter Portugal takes effect this Monday

The decision to dispense with a negative test for the SRS-CoV-2 virus to enter Portugal, simply by presenting the digital certificate or a recognized proof of vaccination, enters into force this Monday, February 7th.

Last Thursday, the Government decided to end the measure in force since December 1 of last year, which imposed that all passengers arriving in Portugal by air were required to present a negative test or a certificate of recovery at the time. of the landing.

“The Council of Ministers approved a resolution to change the measures applicable in the context of the covid-19 disease pandemic, namely those concerning the entry of people into national territory”, said yesterday, in a statement, the office of the Minister of the Presidency.

The measure will be published on Sunday in Diário da República and “the rules contained therein will be in force from 00:00 on Monday, February 7th”, adds the statement.

With regard to entry into national territory, “only the presentation of the EU Covid Digital Certificate in its three modalities or other duly recognized proof of vaccination is now required”.

On Thursday, the Council of Ministers approved the decree-law with changes regarding the European Union's covid digital certificate and adjustments regarding the proof of vaccination to be presented for access to certain establishments.
