Covid-19: Algarve has one death and 1951 new cases, incidence and R(t) continue to decline

The Algarve has one more death and 1.951 new cases of Covid-19, on a day when the incidence and R(t) continue to decrease, according to the bulletin from the Directorate-General for Health this Wednesday, February 9, that has just been released.

Nationally, there are 34.023 new cases of Covid-19, a slightly higher number compared to yesterday (30.757). Also in relation to data from last Wednesday, February 2, there was a decrease in new cases, on a day when 54.693 new infections were recorded.

Looking at today's report, the North has, once again, most of the new infected (+11.888), followed by Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (+9.918), Center (+6.821), Algarve (+1.951), Alentejo (+1.713), Azores (1.142) and Madeira (+590).

In terms of deaths, our country today recorded 52 more, spread over Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (17), North (15), Center (15), Azores (2), Alentejo (1), Algarve (1) and Madeira. (1).

The risk matrix was updated today and brings good news, with R(t) and incidence continuing to decline.

OR(t), the transmissibility index, dropped to 0,92, both at the national level and taking into account only Mainland Portugal.

The incidence dropped to 6562,1 cases of infection per 100 inhabitants, nationally, and to 6610,1 cases, excluding the islands.

Compared to yesterday's numbers, there are now 16 more patients in the ward (total of 2.435), but eight less in intensive care (total of 163).

Even so, if we compare with the data from a week ago, we can see that there are fewer admissions to the ward (on 2 February there were 2.442), but in the ICU, the most serious cases were less (149).

If we compare it to February 2, 2021, when there were 5.540 new cases, the difference between the situation in hospitals and the number of deaths is much greater.

There were 6.775 inpatients, with 852 people in intensive care. The deaths were 260 a year ago.

Returning to today's bulletin, the number of recoveries was 27.261 (for a total of 2.370.709).

Active cases have increased (+6.710) and are now a total of 606.707.

There are 646.368 contacts under surveillance (-9.152).
