Covid-19: Algarve has 2 more deaths and 680 infections, incidence and R(t) continue to decline in the country

The Algarve has two more deaths and 680 new cases of Covid-19, according to the bulletin from the Directorate-General for Health this Monday, February 14, which also reports the continuous decrease in active cases, incidence and R( t).

At the national level, there are today 8.463 new cases of Covid-19, a low number of new cases, usual on Mondays, but much lower than what has been observed in recent days (yesterday, for example, 16.132 new infections were recorded) .

In relation to data from last Monday, February 7, there was also a sharp decrease in new cases, as 17.019 new infections had been recorded on that day.

Looking at today's report, the North has, once again, most of the new infected (+2.764), followed by Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (+2.529), Center (+1.333), Algarve (+680), Madeira (+474), Azores (370) and Alentejo (+313).

In terms of deaths, our country today recorded 35 more, spread across the North (16), Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (11), Center (4), Algarve (2) and Alentejo (2).

The risk matrix was updated today, bringing good news regarding R(t) and incidence.

OR(t), the transmissibility index, dropped to 0,81, nationally, and to 0,80, only taking mainland Portugal into account.

The incidence dropped to 4989,6 cases of infection per 100 inhabitants, nationally, and to 5000,0 cases, excluding the islands.

Compared to yesterday's numbers, there are now 66 more patients in the ward (total of 2.364), but seven less in intensive care (total of 148).

If we compare with the data from a week ago, we can see that there are fewer hospitalizations in the ward (on February 6th, there were 2.560) and in the ICU, the most serious cases, were more (178).

Returning to today's bulletin, the number of recoveries was 29.289 (for a total of 2.524.291).

Active cases continue to decline (-20.861) and are now a total of 548.867.

There are 589.289 contacts under surveillance (-13.194).
