The creation of a cycle path, the requalification of the streets with the creation of orderly parking and the installation of geriatric equipment. These are some of the works that will take place in Aldeia do Pereiro (Alcoutim).
In a press release, the Alcoutim Chamber explains that there has already been an approved application for community funds.
This application, with an investment of around 756 thousand euros, had a contribution of around 529 thousand euros, with the conclusion of the works expected by 31 December.
The works are intended to «improve and consolidate the village's public spaces, intervening along the main streets, in a square and in a section of the EN 124, starting around the roundabout, extending to the caravan park and to West, in an extension of 485m, with the creation of a pedestrian lane and a cycle path».
Another objective is the «requalification of the streets with the creation of orderly parking. Next to the roundabout, the spaces will be covered with traditional pavement and geriatric equipment will be installed”.
The investment also aims at «a better connection between the Motorhome Service Area (ASA) of Pereiro and the village, improving not only the quality of life of residents, but also its tourist attractiveness».
