VRSA modifies organizational structure to increase response from municipal services

Measure meets the requirements of the Municipal Adjustment Plan and responds to the goals of the transfer of competences process

The Vila Real de Santo António City Council announced this Tuesday, January 25, that it has restructured its organizational structure, in order to optimize the resources, valences and quality of services provided to the population.

According to the autarchy, the changes “went into force at the beginning of January and take into account the new organization, attributions and functioning of the autarchy, namely the changes introduced in its organic units”.

The measure also responds to the new strategic objectives outlined by the executive, which include «the processes of transfer of competences – provided for by law – for health, education and social action».

«These are examples of areas that will pass to the authority of the municipality, in order to increase proximity and ease of access for citizens to essential public services», explains the municipality of Vilarreal.

On the other hand, and taking into account that the Municipal Council is intervened by the Municipal Support Fund - thus being prevented from hiring new personnel - the organic changes now put into practice «also seek to optimize human resources according to the needs of the services".

In this way, «the municipality has proceeded, whenever necessary, to reallocate its workers to divisions that were short of staff or to areas of intervention that now have new valences (and as such need more human resources)».

Through this set of measures, «it is ensured that all sectors maintain their operation with levels of excellence and efficiency, pursuing the path of administrative modernization and reduction of bureaucracy, which will translate into a growing improvement in the services provided to the population of the municipality of Vila Real de Santo António», concludes the municipality.
