Mandatory teleworking will last until the 14th of January, when bars and clubs will also reopen, with the obligation to present a negative test, the Prime Minister has just announced.

The measures were revealed by António Costa, after yet another Council of Ministers that lasted all morning, and which served as a balance sheet for the pandemic after the Christmas and New Year period.

The new rules, which come at a time when there are more cases, but a much less serious situation in hospitals, come into force on Monday, the 10th.

This will also be the date on which the schools will reopen and with a novelty, announced by the prime minister: the isolation of classes will end (whether vaccinated students or not).

In other words, if there is a positive case of Covid-19, only the infected person will have to comply with isolation.

From January 10th, to enter restaurants, tourist establishments and local accommodation, cultural shows, events with marked places and gyms, it will be mandatory to present the digital certificate.

In stores, the ban on sales will end, but the «limitation of one person for every five square meters» will remain in force.

Anyone who has not had a booster dose for at least 14 days remains obligatory to take a test to access some activities.

They are: visits to homes, hospitalized patients, large events and events without marked places, as well as entry into sporting venues (unless decided by the General Directorate of Health).

As for borders, the presentation of a negative test for all people who land in Portugal will remain mandatory. Carriers that do not comply will be fined.

One of the great news announced by the prime minister is related to the fact that people, vaccinated with a booster dose for more than 14 days, no longer have to be isolated.

António Costa called for taking the booster dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, explaining that the new measures reflect an idea: "advance, with caution".

For the prime minister, although the pandemic is "not over yet", as shown by recent figures driven by the Omicron variant, there is now the possibility of living with "greater tranquility", largely due to the high vaccination coverage in our country.
