Sofia Escobar sings with the Orquestra de Sopros do Algarve

Concert presents Symphony No. 2 “Mare Nostrum” Op. 124 (2004), by Jorge Salgueiro

The international soloist Sofia Escobar will give voice to the Symphony n.º 2 “Mare Nostrum” Op. 124 (2004), by Jorge Salgueiro, which will be performed by the Orquestra de Sopros do Algarve, on the 5th of February, at 19:00, in the Auditorium Carlos do Carmo, in Lagoa.

The Orquestra de Sopros do Algarve, conducted by its principal conductor João Rocha, will interpret the Symphony n.º 2 “Mare Nostrum” Op. the Portuguese symphonic tradition started in the symphonies of Luís de Freitas Branco and continued by Joly Braga Santos.

It is a symphonic narrative with four movements: Vocatorius, Sirenis, De Profundis and Adventus.

As a symphony for soprano and orchestra, international soloist Sofia Escobar was invited, who will be both in the artist residency and in the respective concert on stage with OSA.
