“Lagos Start On to Start Up” discusses entrepreneurship and digital nomads

Hugo Pereira, mayor of Lagos, will open

Cross the paths of entrepreneurship, digital nomads and sustainability. This is the main objective of the third edition of Lagos Start On to Start Up, which takes place this Friday, February 4, from 15:30 pm, in online format.

The conference will be opened by Hugo Pereira, mayor of Lagos.

The start of the initiative invites you to take a trip to the previous editions of the entrepreneurship contest to understand how some of the participants of the 2017 and 2019 editions are doing today.

«From the past to the present, the conference gives voice to new business ideas, highlighting, here, the interventions of Bernardo Garrido – one of the winning projects of the Business Ideas competition of the Entrepreneurship in Schools Program – or of Ana Sousa, which will present the project “Cultural Network in Lagos”, developed within the scope of the Master's thesis in Economics of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the University of Algarve», explains the organization.

Brazilian bi-amputee athlete Pauê, actor Rúben Garcia, sportsmen Martyn Dias and Jorge Tinoco and, also, environmentalist Rafaela Prado are the speakers in the second moment of the afternoon's debate and will share stories capable of inspiring. The moment ends with Tiago Saga, from Iacobrigen and lead singer of the band “Time for T”, who will interpret “Maria”, the flagship theme of the Lagos Start On to Start Up edition of 2019.

«This edition of the entrepreneurship meeting also reserves space to analyze trends in this area, highlighting, here, the session with Américo Mateus – University professor at Instituto Superior Manuel Teixeira Gomes and director of the Center for Transdisciplinary Research for Entrepreneurship and Ecosystem Innovation – which seeks to show where we are and where we are going in this constantly changing world», says the organization.

Another highlight is the panel-debate on “Digital and Sustainability”, which includes the participation of a group of personalities linked to the various fields of entrepreneurship.

The last debate panel, centered on the “Travelling” axis, seeks to reveal what characteristics the Municipality of Lagos has in order to attract investment to the region. Carsten Jensen, Frederik Anderson and Tim Vieira are some of the entrepreneurs who join the initiative and who will reveal what distinguishes the city. João Cajuda – digital influencer and travel blogger, who was the face of the summer campaign that the Municipality of Lagos launched in 2021 – also participates in this conversation, showing what the city has to see and feel.

The conference ends with a debate around a concept that is increasingly in vogue: digital nomads. The panel thus analyzes this new phenomenon, highlighting some digital nomads who decided to “settle” in Lagos and reveals some of the municipal infrastructures supporting entrepreneurs.

The closing of the session will be in charge of Sandra Oliveira, councilor of the Municipality of Lagos.

Registration for the conference is free and can be done here
