José Gusmão defends the importance «of protecting the Ria Formosa and supporting fishermen»

José Gusmão also met with the Fisheries Workers Union

José Gusmão, head of the Left Bloc for the Algarve, defended, this Thursday, January 13, the importance of solving “the pollution problems” in Ria Formosa.

The BE candidate spoke of the “urgency that is the resolution of urban effluents that represent a permanent environmental attack and affect the activity of fishermen and shellfish gatherers, with dramatic economic and social consequences”.

José Gusmão also met with the Fisheries Workers Union, “with whom he had the opportunity to confirm the consequences of a sales system that has the result of guaranteeing fishermen the lowest possible price”, explains BE.

The Bloco ended the day at the Olhão canning factory in a contact action with the workers, with the head of the block list defending «the need to invest in a fish sector that includes a highly differentiated processing industry, with high added value, and not in the systematic compression of prices for fishermen, a policy that threatens the very viability of the sector'.

The delegation was made up of José Gusmão, João Vasconcelos and militants from the Olhão Bloc.
