São Brás de Alportel already has a delegation from the League of Combatants. The space was opened this Wednesday, January 12, and will help those who were once in the war.
The delegation, which will work on Wednesday afternoons in office 4 of the Parish Council, will be energized by former combatant Ilídio Viegas who did not hide his pride in collaborating in this initiative promoted by the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel.
“Talking about former combatants is very difficult. For those who have lived through the war like me, it is very difficult”» he confessed, showing that he is hopeful that the combatants will be able to appear and strengthen this delegation where they can register with the League of Combatants, ask for information about the services that the League provides to combatants both in social and health terms as well as conviviality.
In addition to the “Tribute to Combatants” initiative, which the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel started in April last year with the weekly publication of its memoirs, the installation of a tribute monument to all combatants is underway.
The project has already been completed for the monument and its tender should be launched shortly, explained Vítor Guerreiro, mayor of São Brás de Alportel.
For Henrique André, president of the Center for Faro of the League of Combatants, the opening of this delegation is a very remarkable moment that fulfills an old ambition of the Nucleus, which, in this way, is closer to its members from São Paulo.
