Head of the CDU list argues that it is “need to diversify economic activity” in the Algarve

CDU was in Olhão and Vila Real de Santo António

Catarina Marques, head of the CDU list for the Algarve, defended, this Saturday, January 15, that «it is necessary to diversify economic activity» in the region.

During this Saturday morning, the CDU promoted two public stands: the first, at 9:30 am, in the markets of Olhão and, at 11:30, next to the Vila Real de Santo António market.

In these initiatives, Catarina Marques spoke about the «need» to diversify economic activity in the region.

«The almost exclusive dependence on tourism makes the Algarve, in the last two crises, the region in Portugal that was most penalized in terms of unemployment and economic recession. It is necessary to diversify economic activity in the Algarve. Promoting agriculture, fisheries, industry and creating jobs with rights, ensuring higher wages”, he defended.

The candidate also spoke about the «solutions» that the CDU managed to achieve, such as «the replacement of the Christmas allowance», «free school textbooks» and the «five extraordinary increases in reforms».

«Algarvian workers and people know us. They know about our intervention in defense of the region, its development and progress. In this Algarve it is necessary to increase salaries to face the increase in the cost of living and for greater justice in the distribution of wealth», he concluded.
