Left Block wants requalification of the EN125 between Olhão and VRSA

João Vasconcelos, deputy and representative of the candidacy, said that “the mobility situation in the region is unsustainable”

The Left Block (BE) defended, on the afternoon of this Thursday, January 27, the rescue of the concession and the urgent requalification of the EN125, between Olhão and Vila Real de Santo António, including an external ring road to the city of Olhão and the variants of Luz de Tavira and Odiáxere, as stated in the initial contract.

The «lack of conditions on the EN125, considered an “urban street”», is, according to BE, «a huge risk factor on a road that is absolutely essential for mobility in the Algarve and which is not an alternative to Via do Infante. PS and PSD are truly responsible for all this sad and regrettable situation in the region».

João Vasconcelos, deputy and representative of the Left Bloc's candidacy for the circle of Faro, stated that “the mobility situation in the region is unsustainable”.

«With a totally inadequate railway line and also to be requalified, with the maintenance of tolls on Via do Infante and with the insufficiency or inexistence of urban collective transport, people are forced to use the EN125, which is not able to withstand all this traffic and that increases road accidents», explains the BE.

The requalification of the EN125 is part of “a more global strategy to make mobility more accessible and safer in the region”.

BE concludes by saying that “it is important that the Government comply with the resolution of the Assembly of the Republic, resulting from the approval of a project by the party, which defends the rescue of the concession and the requalification of the sections between Olhão and Vila Real de Santo António”.
