Algarve has fewer inpatients with Covid-19 than a week ago

The Algarve has 14 fewer hospitalized with Covid-19 in hospitals in the region, than a week ago, also registering a decrease of seven ventilated people and one patient in the Intensive Care Unit, reveals the regional Civil Protection Commission, in its point of view. weekly status report made this Friday, January 7th.

The data match the information on the decrease in hospitalizations revealed this Thursday by Ana Varges Gomes, chairman of the CHUA Board of Directors, in statements to our newspaper.

In this last week, the Algarve recorded an increase of 5047 cases of infection with the new coronavirus and there were nine fatalities to regret.

In terms accumulated since the beginning of the pandemic, the Algarve region accounts for 63.735 cases and 592 deaths, caused by Covid-19.

 

 

With the increase in infections, active cases increased throughout the week, from 4828 on the 31st of December to 7572 (+2744) this Friday the 7th.

In the Algarve, there are currently 4472 contacts under surveillance.

 

 

The municipality with the most active cases is Loulé (1272), followed by Faro (1235), Albufeira (1050) and Portimão (966). The municipality with the fewest active cases remains Alcoutim, with 28 infected patients.

Throughout the week, and also according to the situation of the Civil Protection Commission of the Algarve Region, there were 2294 more patients recovering from Covid-19.

The number of recovered (since the beginning of the pandemic, in March 2020) now totals 55.571 in the Algarve region.
