The average overall occupancy rate, per room, was 41,3% in November, in the Algarve, just 5,8% below the value recorded in 2019.
The data have just been revealed by AHETA – Association of Hotels and Touristic Enterprises of the Algarve.
Compared to 2020, "average occupancy rose 225%".
The domestic market increased by 6,8% and the external market decreased by -13,3% compared to November 2019.
In accumulated terms, since the beginning of the year, room occupancy has recorded an average decrease of 47,1% and sales volume a decrease of -40,1% compared to the same period of 2019.
By geographic areas, also in relation to November 2019, the biggest decreases were verified in Monte Gordo / VRSA (-57,4%), Albufeira (-23,0%), and Carvoeiro and Armação de Pêra (-16,3).
The sales volume increased by 1,3% compared to November 2019 and 248% compared to the same month in 2020.
Moreover, as explained by AHETA, "sales made through online platforms do not include the payment of the respective commissions, which influences the year-on-year increase in sales volume and prices."
In November of this year, 28,5% of sales were made through traditional tour operators, a figure that compares with 43,7% in 2019.
«The averages are not reflected equally in all establishments, with discrepancies depending on the categories and geographical areas», concludes AHETA.
