The Urban Rehabilitation Operation (ORU) projects of São Marcos da Serra and Algoz, as well as the regulations of municipal programs to support urban rehabilitation in those agglomerations, are under public consultation until the 17th of January.
Interested parties can consult the ORU projects and the aforementioned regulations on the Silves Chamber website and participate in the public discussion, using the form provided for that purpose.

This process is carried out «following the delimitation of the Urban Rehabilitation Areas (ARU) of São Marcos da Serra and Algoz and follows from the approval by the Municipality of Silves, on 22 November, of the proposed Urban Rehabilitation Operation of these localities ».
«The implementation of these measures and actions provided for in the ARU, includes, among other benefits and support, the Support Program for the Improvement of Housing Conditions (PAHAB) and the Support Program for Social and Economic Dynamics (PADSE), whose regulation is now submitted for public discussion. In both ARU, the objectives and priorities to be pursued are part of the axis of 'Territorial Qualification', specifically with regard to intervention in buildings, aiming, at this level, their requalification and attractiveness", describes the Chamber of Silves.
The municipality also points out that in the ORU of São Marcos da Serra, «the Municipality of Silves established an increase in the amounts of eligible expenditure of the municipal programs to support urban rehabilitation, which translates into the doubling of the amounts in relation to those foreseen in the other ORU of the county of Silves».
«This option, in line with the interior development strategy, meets the principles of cohesion, integration and territorial sustainability, promoting positive discrimination for the territory of the parish of São Marcos da Serra, in loss of demographic and dynamism economic and social. The aim is, therefore, to introduce mechanisms that reinforce the attractiveness and competitiveness of the territories in the interior of the municipality, and, consequently, to reverse the current loss process», justifies the Chamber.
