Lagos is part of Turismo de Portugal's “Training + Next” programme, which aims to «develop the skills and qualifications of human resources linked to the tourism sector», announced the local authority this Friday, 3 December.

This plan was presented by Turismo de Portugal and developed at the Hotel and Tourism Schools, in partnership with the Municipal Councils, as part of the “Reactivate Tourism – Building the Future” Plan.

The training to be given "will be free and aimed at entrepreneurs and managers, intermediate and operational staff, in various areas", with the aim of "adding value to the local business fabric, empowering those who work and develop in this area", says the municipality of Lagos.

This program aims to reach 75 thousand professionals in the sector at national level, through training actions with different characteristics (digital or on-site) and duration, always adapted to each need.

The objective is to decentralize training in tourism and adapt it to local needs, throughout the national territory, to the diversity of companies in the sector and extend to the entire tourism value chain, in a training program that is closer to people and needs.

The signing ceremony of the commitment to integrate the “Formação + Proxima” program took place on the 25th of November, in Amarante, with the Câmara de Lagos being represented by the councilor Sara Coelho. The ceremony was also attended by the Secretary of State for Tourism, Rita Marques.

The signing of this protocol will allow Turismo de Portugal, in partnership with each local authority, «to draw up a diagnosis of needs and create a training plan to better respond to the needs of each territory and sector, helping the City Council to continue to strengthen the bet on local entrepreneurs in the tourism sector and to value Lagos as a destination», concludes the municipality.
