«The coming years will certainly continue to be very challenging and demanding times for tourism in the Algarve»

João Fernandes was re-elected this Thursday, December 2nd, for a second term as president of Associação Turismo do Algarve (ATA).

The elections for the new governing bodies of this body competed for a single list, with several agents of the tourism industry in the region.

Accompanying João Fernandes in the presidency of the other bodies of the new direction, which will remain in office until 2024, are ACRAL – Association of Commerce and Services of the Algarve Region, in front of the General Assembly, and Hotel Júpiter, in front of the Supervisory Board . Voting was expressive, with 90 votes in favour, 1 null vote and 1 blank vote.

"I am very pleased with this re-election and with the opportunity, together with my management colleagues and ATA professionals, to continue the project we started in 2018 and which has proven to be the winner, even during one of the most critical periods that the tourism sector has already known», says João Fernandes, who, in addition to ATA, is also president of the Algarve Tourism Region.

"The coming years will certainly continue to be very challenging and demanding times for tourism in the Algarve, but I am confident that this team will know how to maintain the same combative spirit to continue to overcome obstacles with success, dedication and a lot of creativity", he adds .

For ATA's new management, the future of the region's external promotion involves strengthening the commitment to the diversity of the region's offer and consolidating the Algarve's international recognition as an authentic tourist destination of superior quality.
