The Regional Federation of the Algarve of the Socialist Party (PS) lamented today, in a note of regret, «the death of journalist Fernando Reis, director of Jornal do Algarve, which occurred last saturday.
Stressing the «long career as a Public School teacher in various parts of the Algarve and more than four decades of presence in the regional press», the PS note adds that Fernando Reis distinguished himself «for the consolidation of the role of Jornal do Algarve as a great defender of the Region and the cause of Regionalization, pursuing with determination and determination the legacy of its Founders, contributing to the affirmation of a new generation of journalists and to the debate on major issues in the Algarve».
Luís Graça, president of PS Algarve, in his personal name and that of deputies and socialist leaders, addresses «the most heartfelt condolences to the family of Fernando Reis, professionals and employees of Jornal do Algarve, expressing his deep regret for this unfortunate event, which makes the Region poorer”.
The funeral ceremonies of Fernando Reis will take place this afternoon, from 16 pm, at the cemetery of Vila Real de Santo António.
