Executive councilor from Lagoa went to the council's schools to introduce himself to the students

Within the scope of the project “MyPolis – Citizenship 4.0 in Lagoa”

To make younger citizens aware of who the mayor and other councilors with responsibility for Lagoa are and what they do and to promote active citizenship was the objective of the visits that the municipal executive made to schools in the municipality.

This tour, carried out within the scope of “MyPolis – Citizenship 4.0 in Lagoa”, served for Luís incarnation, president of the Chamber, and councilors Anabela Simão, Ana Martins, Ruben Palma and Mário Guerreiro to present themselves to the 2nd cycle, 3rd cycle and who work on this project.

"These visits aimed to make the younger people aware of the faces that manage the municipality, the areas in which each one is responsible, the work carried out in the municipality and, above all, to promote participatory citizenship among the younger. This initiative took place before the Digital Youth Assembly, within the scope of the My Polis project in schools, so that students knew to whom they would present their proposals, before doing so, as happened on November 30, with 14 proposals presented », describes the Chamber of Lagoa.

The autarchy highlights "the interested and participative way in which students presented themselves in these sessions, demonstrating the great commitment that the school community, the Municipality and the Associação Discurso Paralelo have had in promoting active citizenship over the past few years."

The project “MyPolis – Citizenship 4.0 in Lagoa” arises from a partnership between the Municipality of Lagoa and Associação Discurso Paralelo, resulting from the approval of the application to Portugal Inovação Social. This is a project that aims to promote the active participation of people in the choices for their city using a mobile and web application and, at the same time, promote education for citizenship by the youngest.

The use of the MyPolis tool is part of a strategy of providing spaces and mechanisms for participation by all people of all ages in the construction and improvement of community experiences in Lagoa.

«It is with great satisfaction that I see the youngest interested in building a better council, through a true active citizenship, with ideas, proposals and projects of common interest. Through these visits, it was possible to see the extraordinary work being developed in schools in this area. To all those involved, on behalf of the municipality, my thanks», considers Luís Encarnação.
