Parking in the center of Portimão is free until 6 January

To encourage shopping at local businesses

Parking in the city center of Portimão will be free until the 6th of January, a measure taken by the Portimão Chamber which aims to encourage shopping in local businesses this Christmas season.

The exemption has been in effect since yesterday, Monday, the 6th, and covers three controlled parking zones, which include Rua de Olivença/Rua dos Bombeiros Voluntários de Portimão; Avenida São João de Deus; Rua Dr. Francisco Sá Carneiro; Rua Vicente Vaz das Vacas; Rua da Hortinha; Rua Mouzinho de Albuquerque; France Borges Street; Rua Diogo Gonçalves; Olivença Tray; Rua José António Marques; Av. Zeca Afonso; 1st of December; and Serpa Pinto Street.

Parking is also free in Largo do Dique's large car park.

"According to the delegation of powers of the Municipality of Portimão, it will be up to the parking inspection agents of EMARP – Municipal Water and Waste Company to verify the proper fulfillment of this procedure, which intends to stimulate local commerce at a time when the state of calamity, due to Covid-19», concludes the City Council of Portimão.
