Giving support to informal caregivers in Alcoutim, Castro Marim, Tavira and Vila Real de Santo António is the objective of the “Info.Cuidador” project, which the Cruz Vermelha Portuguesa Humanitarian Center in Tavira is promoting.
«The project is based on the implementation of an online service, using video calling, through a tablet, which will be in the possession of the caregiver. The person cared for will have a smartwatch, which will allow them to be monitored», describes the Red Cross of Tavira.
Monitoring and counseling for the caregiver is provided by a «multidisciplinary team», consisting of a psychologist, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, speech therapist, nutritionist, social worker and nurse.
With this initiative, the project's promoters intend to «reduce the burden of informal caregivers and increase their quality of life and well-being, through the support and advice provided, through new information and communication technologies, that is, at a distance one-click'.
