Covid-19: Jorge Botelho, mayors and health authorities meet to prepare for the coming months

Jorge Botelho, secretary of State coordinating the fight against the pandemic in the Algarve, has meetings this week with mayors, authorities and health services to prepare the "line of action for the coming months". 

According to the Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command of the Algarve, "meetings are scheduled for today [December 20] and tomorrow [21] with each of the intervention sectors, as a result of the activation of the Civil Protection Emergency Plan", coinciding «with the areas of influence of each Grouping of Health Centers (ACES) of the Regional Health Administration (ARS) of the Algarve».

The first sector coordination meeting will take place today, December 20, and will be dedicated to “ACES Barlavento”, in which the Regional Health Administration president, the Regional Emergency and Civil Protection commander and the Regional Health delegate participate. , the mayors of the municipalities of Aljezur, Lagoa, Lagos, Monchique, Portimão, Silves and Vila do Bispo, the Executive Director of ACES Algarve II – Barlavento and the respective territorially competent health delegates.

"The main objective of the working day is, based on an epidemiological situation and predictable evolution, to anticipate measures and adjust the support that has been materialized by the civil protection structures to the bodies of the National Health Service (SNS) ».

Vaccination will also be one of the topics covered.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, will follow the sectorial coordination meetings of the “ACES Central” in which the mayors of Albufeira participate, Faro, Loulé, Olhão and São Brás de Alportel and “ACES Sotavento” which will feature the participation of the Presidents of Alcoutim, Castro Marim, Tavira and Vila Real de Santo António.

The Regional Command Post, installed in the Algarve Regional Command of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority, in Loulé, was reactivated with the declaration of the Calamity situation.
