Cineteatro Louletano will feature GNR, Rodrigo Leão, Dino d' Santiago and more in the 1st quarter of 2022

In the first three months of the year there are music, theater and dance shows to see in Loulé

The GNR, Rodrigo Leão, Dino d' Santiago, Márcia, the Orquestra Clássica do Sul, theater and dance are Cineteatro Louletano's suggestions for the first quarter of 2022.

The year begins with two New Year concerts, performed by the Orquestra Clássica do Sul, both scheduled for January 1st, at 16 pm and at 00 pm.

On the 16th, the GNR take to the stage, «who are carrying concert “41” in their suitcase, celebrating the forty years (another one, postponed with the pandemic) of the northern band, opening the 1st season of 2022 of the Cineteatro Louletano », according to the Chamber of Loulé.

Rodrigo Leão is another of the big names that will be present in Loulé, in this case, on February 1st, Day of the City.

The Portuguese artist will take the stage accompanied by a youth choir with children from Loulé, to present the Rodrigo Leão Cinema Project, bringing together repertoire from the three albums published in 2020 and 2021 (O Method, Avis 2020 and A Estranha Beleza da Vida).

This will be “an eclectic concert, with a wide range of musical styles ranging from neoclassical to waltz and also incorporating projected images by Gonçalo Santos, including drawings by Rodrigo Leão himself”.

 

 

On March 20, Dino d'Santiago returns home to present his new album in national debut

Before, on March 8, International Women's Day, Márcia will present her new album at the cinematheatre.

Also in music, the public can count on a concert by pianist Joana Gama, who will present the show “There's no knowing”, music derived from the soundtrack for the series “Cassandra”, on RTP, in a co-production by Cineteatro Louletano.

In theatre, on the 14th and 15th of January, the play “Cochinchina”, a free adaptation of Afonso Cruz's work, Principle of Karenina, with the signature of the actress Sara Barata Belo, takes to the stage.

«“Cochinchina” ends a trilogy of love and death letters that Sandra Barata Belo began with “Morreste-me” by José Luís Peixoto, followed by “Letter from a Unknown woman” by Stefan ZWeig. Creations based on literary works that the actress adapted for theatre. “Cochinchina” also includes, within the scope of Cultural Mediation, a show with talks aimed at schools, as well as a masterclass for professionals and other interested parties», describes the municipality.

This is followed on 26 February by “A Happy and Direct Play About Sadness”, by Joana Pupo and Jaime Mears. The project “starts from a vital and close encounter with the public to talk about the themes of sadness, isolation and maladjustment”.

In March, between 17 and 19, Festival Tanto Mar, promoted by Associação Folha de Medronho, will showcase the work of theater makers from Portuguese-speaking countries.

On March 23, “Aldebarã”, a play by Companhia Terra Amarela, takes to the stage. “Earth's natural resources are depleted and humanity is on the brink of extinction. As a last resort, the Lusitanian Space Agency will send an expedition in search of the Aldebarã star, one of the closest in our solar system. Astronauts are just quite dysfunctional. If they work together, perhaps they will be able to reach their destination…», describes the Chamber.

“Aldebarã” will also feature, at Mediation level, workshops for the 2nd and 3rd cycles.

The cultural quarter ends on March 27, with a play from the past to the future, “Aquário”, by Marlene Barreto.

“In 2050, P. wakes up to the deafening sound of an emergency alarm. There is nothing around her but an intense haze of smoke. Without knowing who he is, he looks for answers, but the only person who can provide them is A., the author of P.'s story who lives in the past, immersed in a deep despair with the imminent extinction of humanity».

 

 

On the 27th of January, José Laginha and Marlene Vilhena from DeVIR/CAPa make their debut at the Cineteatro “A request – please give me a copy of God”.

«The piece is a solo for two performers, in a state of search and surrender to movement and “event”. Traveling back in time and looking for the year 1962, in which three revolutionary events, three moments of cleavage transformed the way of understanding pop music, dance and fado», describes the autarchy.

Dance returns to the fore on February 5th, with “Anesthetize”, by Maurícia Neves, “an irreverent, ambiguous and mysterious dance piece, which brings together concepts such as zombification, vortex, alienation and mycelium, exploring the idea of ​​a state meditative with repetitive cycles of movements and gestures».

On the 18th of February, the day on which “an unusual piece” will be presented, the show “Cabraquimera”, by Catarina Miranda, of “dance for a quartet on roller skates, approaching a contemporaneity that is simultaneously physical and technological”.

At Mediação, on February 20th, the famous Concerts for Babies return, by the hand of Companhia Musicalmente. This time, the theme will be Rattles and Rattles from Shrovetide, and the activity will be led by soloist Marco Fernandes, "using music boxes and rattles, rattles and other toys that are, after all, musical instruments."
