Olhão Chamber will have a budget of nearly 41 million for 2022

This is a budget that "maintains the intransigence in maintaining financial sustainability", says the municipality

The Municipality of Olhão will have a budget of almost 41 million euros for 2022, which "represents an increase of more than 13%", announced the municipality.

The Municipal Assembly of Olhão approved this Tuesday, December 21st, the document, which had already received the agreement, by a majority, of the municipal councilors in a Chamber meeting (votes in favor of the PS councilors and against those of the PSD). In the meeting of the Municipal Assembly, the proposal of the Autarchy was once again approved by a majority, with 14 votes in favour, nine against and one abstention.

The mayor of Olhão says that "this will be another year marked by the covid-19 pandemic", where uncertainty about the future continues to mark people's lives and also municipal management.

Anyway, the budget for 2022 has grown compared to 2021, now amounting to 40.896.058 euros.

This is a budget that «keeps the intransigence in maintaining financial sustainability, which allows us to continue to make investments in priority areas, where job creation and access to housing are at the top of the priorities, as long as they are closely linked to environmental sustainability. », justifies António Miguel Pina.

The social area will also assume "great prominence in the strategic line of action".

In 2022, according to the municipality, "other major works will begin to be planned or started, such as the municipal workshops, the new Municipal Fire Brigade, the Fuseta Riverside Front, but also the new camping and parking lot or a pedestrian bridge for Ilha da Fuseta, the construction of infrastructure for the installation of an electric train on Ilha da Armona, the ecovia Faro-Olhão and the Bias-Marim section».

"The construction of housing at controlled costs, the new Bairro 16 de Junho or the rehabilitation of a few more schools will also continue, as well as the creation of an Interactive Museum of the Canning Industry, Ria Formosa and the history of Olhão", concludes the municipality .
