Climate Change, mobility and the Forestry Office are AMAL's priorities for 2022

2022 is a year considered "fundamental"

Implementing the Intermunicipal Plan for Adaptation to Climate Change, continuing to promote mobility in the region and strengthening AMAL's Forestry Office in the defense of forests and rural areas are the activities provided for in the Major Plan Options (GOP) and Budget of the Intermunicipal Community of Algarve (AMAL) for 2022. The documents, which foresee an investment of around 4,7 million euros, were approved at a meeting of the Intermunicipal Council.

In a press release, AMAL stresses that "next year will be a year of affirmation" of this entity, as Regional Transport Authority, with the recent entry into operation of the concession of the public road passenger transport service – VAMUS.

«Transport on request will be promoted, in order to cover the entire territory and, still in the area of mobility, AMAL will continue to manage, in the region, the Program for Support to Tariff Reduction (PART) in public transport, with plans for also the introduction of the intermodal single pass'.

The area of climate change will continue to be "one of the flags" of AMAL, and 2022 will be "the start of the implementation of the Intermunicipal Plan for Adaptation to Climate Change (PIAAC), with the development of the project AwK – Adaptation with Knowlegde».

Next year «will also be marked by the management of the 35 million euros that, under the Recovery and Resilience Program, the Algarve Intermunicipal Community will receive to rehabilitate and optimize the territory's water supply networks by 2025».

“Another of the strengths is linked to taking responsibility for the protection and defense of forests and the rural environment, with the Forestry Office of AMAL and the Brigada de Sapadores Florestais being strengthened”, adds the note.

In addition to these areas, AMAL will continue to develop activities that have already been carried out in previous years, «namely the contracting within the scope of CRESC Algarve, Algarve Digital, the Action Plan and Development of Endogenous Resources, the InvestAlgarve Network, the Purchasing Center , Vocational Training, among other activities in which it has progressively intervened».

2022 will still be "fundamental, considering the beginning of the new European programming period (2021-2027) and the closing of the 2014-2020 period", stresses AMAL, noting that "the Algarve has never had so many resources as those now announced , with AMAL taking on added responsibilities in the operationalization of new instruments and the success of their execution».

The Budget, in the amount of €4.673,548 and AMAL's Major Plan Options (GOP) for 2022, the Recruitment Plan and Personnel Map will be voted on at the Intermunicipal Assembly, at the extraordinary meeting of this body, expected to take place in January .
