Aljezur puts signs so that no one gets lost crossing Eurovelo 1

There are two sections of the Eurovelo 1 Atlantic Coast Route that pass through Aljezur

Those who walk the tracks of the Atlantic Coast Route – Eurovelo 1 in the municipality of Aljezur will be able to find their way around better, thanks to the new signs placed by the City Council of Aljezur.

With this investment, the municipality intends to «facilitate the orientation of lovers of the sport in the stages that cross the county, namely section nº 4 – Sagres/Aljezur and section nº 5 – Aljezur/Vila Nova de Milfontes.

These routes go through "several points of tourist, environmental and recreational interest, such as the Pontal da Carrapateira, Museu do Mar and Terra da Carrapateira and the villages of Aljezur and Odeceixe, among others", according to the Chamber.

«This investment is in line with the strategy of the Municipality of Aljezur of valuing endogenous resources, investing in the sustainable enjoyment of the unique resources of this territory», states the municipality.

EuroVelo is made up of 17 routes, totaling more than 90.000 km of bicycle routes, connecting and uniting the entire European continent, one of which is Eurovelo 1.

This route connects the Norwegian region of Nordkap, passing through countries such as England, Ireland, France and Spain, for a total of 9000 km to Portugal, and the route in the national territory runs along the entire Portuguese Atlantic Coast from Vila Real de Santo António to It walks and is made up of 18 sections.
