Algarve has five more deaths from Covid-19 and 218 new cases

Algarve was the region with the most deaths in 24 hours across the country

There are five more deaths and 218 new cases of Covid-19 in the Algarve, according to the bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health this Monday, 6 December.

The Algarve region has the most deaths in the country, which accounted for a total of 14 deaths. In addition to the Algarve, there were fatalities in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (4), in the North (3) and in the Center (2).

The numbers in the Algarve, particularly with regard to deaths, may be related to two outbreaks that exist in homes in the Algarve, as Ana Cristina Guerreiro, regional Health delegate reported today, at a press conference to assess the pandemic in the region.

 

 

As for new cases, there were 2216 more across the country.

By region, the North, with 683 new cases, was the most affected, followed by Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (662), Center (480), Algarve (218), Madeira (106), Alentejo (50) and Azores (17 ).

In hospitals across the country, there are 37 more people admitted, with the total rising to 948. In intensive care, there is now one more patient (135 in total).

 

 

The risk matrix was updated and confirms the decreasing trend of the R(t), or transmissibility index, which decreases from 1,13 to 1,1, at the national level, and from 1,14 to 1,11, with only account the mainland territory.

The incidence rose from 374 to 410,4 cases of infection by Covid-19 per 100 inhabitants, nationwide, and from 376,5 to 413,9 cases, excluding the islands.

Today's DGS bulletin still reports 1408 people who have recovered from the disease.

The active cases are now 62.157 (+794).

There are 77.283 contacts under surveillance (+1204).
