Unemployment registered in November, in the Algarve, rose 28,5% compared to October, being the only continental region to register an increase in the number of unemployed, according to data for the eleventh month of the year, released this Monday, by the Institute of Employment and Professional Training (IEFP).

According to these figures, at the end of November, the Algarve had 22.278 unemployed people registered with the IEFP services, 4.947 more than at the end of October, a figure lower than that recorded in May (26.601) but higher than those recorded during the summer and autumn months.

Unemployment data in the Algarve region, for the month of November, have followed the growing trend seen in October, but are also partially conditioned by the return of measures to combat the Covid-19 pandemic enacted by the Government.

Compared to the last decade, only the last three years before the pandemic (2017, 2018 and 2019) had a lower number of unemployed registered in November.

According to IEFP data, job offers in the Algarve region decreased 12% (-117) compared to October, but even so, they are 622 more (+263,6%) compared to November last year.

Only the Algarve registers a growth in the number of unemployed and goes against the national trend in November, as the North (-4,1%), the Center (-2,3%), Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (-2,9, 0,6%) and Alentejo (-XNUMX%) had decreases.

In Mainland Portugal, the change was -1,6% (-5.783 unemployed).
